Take Good Care of Your Skin - Simple Winter Skin Care Tips
By Emily S. Johnson
Those who are obsessed about their skin dread the winter a lot. The biting cold
causes the lips to crack and the skin to chap. So they look dull and miserable.
With a little care, you can keep your skin healthy, even in winters. Proper care
can make your skin glow even in freezing temperatures.
Skin care tips for winter:
Some winter skin care tips which can assure you of a radiant glow are given below:
Keep the skin hydrated:
During winters it is essential to keep your skin supple and moist. So you must drink
lot of water. As fruits and vegetables contain lot of water and vitamins that are
good for skin, you need to eat them in plenty as well. To make your skin look bright
you need to apply coconut oil or olive oil to your skin before you go for a bath.
Avoid beverages and alcohol:
Drinking coffee and alcohol in winter is not conducive to good health. The body
tends to loose water. This may cause your skin to dry and get chapped.
Indoor humidifiers:
Indoor humidifiers or bowls of water keep the atmosphere within a room humid. This
prevents your skin from becoming dry and itchy.
Avoid soaps:
If you use soap, your skin may become dry because soaps are alkaline. Instead use
moisturizing cleansers which keep the skin soft and supple. Glycerin-based soaps
are good for winter season.
Use oil based moisturizer:
Oil-based moisturizer can protect your skin from moisture loss. It forms a filmy
covering on your skin and protects it. When you go out in the cold take care to
cover your face, neck, arms, and legs with moisturizing sunscreen lotion. Always
wear loose fitting cotton clothes and woolen clothes. It is also good to wear loose-fitting
cotton gloves. It is also very important to exfoliate your skin twice a week. This
removes the dead cells and opens the skin pores to absorb more moisture.
Beauty tips for winter:
Apart from skin care you can follow some beauty tips to maintain your good looks
throughout winter.
Use water proof black mascaras or light Aubergine after using eyeliner.
Use tinted lip balms in red currant tones and blackberry during winter.
For makeup in winter use tinted powder.
Skin-priming moisturizers on the neck and face help a lot in winter
Do not sleep with the heat on high. This may have an over drying effect on your
sinuses and skin.
Eat wild salmon once a week. The Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids in it can be very
beneficial.
These simple ways of skin care can help you be radiant as ever and enjoy the winter
in all its glory.
